Turn a T-shirt into a Tank Top – NO SEW!

Turn a boxy t-shirt into a tank top!

Have a boxy tee? Turn it into a tank top – and without sewing! Watch this quick step-by-step that only requires a t-shirt, a ruler and scissors – you choose whether to do a little bit of finishing with a needle and thread or with fabric glue.

This method uses some simple braiding to create definition under the bust for a figure-flattering result. Often tees with an empire design don’t fall right where a wearer would want. With this DIY the results will be perfectly suited to your shape!

  1. I turn t-shirts and tank tops into summer dresses. I cut them off just below the bust line, take a yard or two, depending on how full you want the skirt and baste box pleats or gather them to fit around and placing right sides of the shirt and skirt fabric together and pinned, sew them together and hem the bottom of the skirt and voila! summer sundress! Depending on how nice of a shirt and material you used, you can wear them in public or just around the house. I love mine and have made several. I have even used sheet material that I got from thrift stores for the skirts.
