Often find yourself scrambling to find a gift the same day you’re supposed to attend kid’s birthday party? Our lives are busy enough that adding a last minute trip to the toy store can create panic. No worries though, we have the answer! We’ve got great tips to create a birthday gift stash that can save you time and money, so your kid can jet off to another fun celebration without the pain on your part.
Follow this step-by-step for a gift stash that’ll prepare you for seasons worth of birthdays in one swoop!
Step 1: Stock up on Gift Certificates
Start at a place your kid enjoys. Movie theater, trampoline park, ice cream parlor, nail salon, skating rink… Whatever age-appropriate activity your kid enjoys. Grab 3 or 6 or 12 gift certificates and make sure you confirm they won’t expire any time soon.
Step 2: Gather Packaging
Buy a dozen gift bags (affiliate). I typically buy solid colors so my son can decorate the bag for the birthday boy or girl.
Add colorful tissue paper.
Step 3: Filler Treat
The gift certificate is the experience gift that the parents and child will BOTH appreciate. No need to go crazy adding to it, but a hands-on treat or two will make the gift fun to open without overloading mom and dad with a lot more STUFF. We like silly straws (affiliate).
And Slinky Jr (affiliate).
And gliders (affiliate)!
More ideas:
- Temporary tattoos
- Movie theater-sized candy
- Snacks with the child’s favorite character
- Items related to the gift certificate – sprinkles for an ice cream trip, mittens for ice skating, nail stickers for a salon trip.
Step 4: Assemble!
Set up your assembly line and get your kid(s) to help out. It will take no time at all. Each gift includes one gift bag, one gift card, a bit of tissue and a filler treat or two. DONE!
Step 5: Add a gift tag
Once a party invite arrives, just grab one of the pre-made bags and make a personalized gift tag for the birthday boy or girl.
You’re all set!
Enjoy the party and watch how excited your kid’s friend gets when they unwrap the new adventure that awaits them!
