We’re highlighting cool gift ideas that have two parts: one to make and one to buy! Today’s feature gift includes a casserole dish and a homemade insulated carrier for easy transport. This is a great idea for those on your gift list who either cooks or bakes so they can bring that delicious meal over to YOUR house. Everyone wins!

First, you’ll need a casserole dish. We recommend the (affiliate) Pyrex 3 Quart Baking Dish, 9″ x 13″ with cover. The cover is key for transport!pyrex-baking-dish

Then, make an insulated casserole carrier. Here are style 3 options you’ll love! First, one with end flaps.Casserole Carrier by Modkid

Here’s another great tutorial that accommodates both a 9″ x 13″ AND a 8″ x 12″ casserole dish.

Please note that the tutorial above works best for Pyrex dishes that don’t have the new larger ergonomic handles (the handles make the dish 16.5″ long). To accommodate the larger size, add 3″ to your length (40″ instead of 37″), or follow this complimentary tutorial. We also love the use of belting straps!

Once you are finished making the casserole carrier, give the dish a personal touch by etching the family’s name on the side. That way, their potluck dish wont be mistaken for someone else’s.
